JO BLOGS: Mastectomy- A tattoo to mark the end of a journey.

I am always very honoured to be asked to do such a special tattoo for my clients. After a mastectomy, it is very often their first and only tattoo and one that celebrates the end of a traumatic journey. I have tattooed over mastectomy scars many times and each time I am touched and honoured to have been chosen for such a sensitive project. Bringing closure to a traumatic journey, it is the final step in healing. Thank you to my very special clients for allowing me to share their intimate photos so that it may help others. You are truly inspiring people.

Edwina’s suffered from breast cancer and subsequent surgery that left her with a scar on her chest she wanted to cover. To mark the end of her traumatic cancer battle and the start of a new chapter, she chose to adorn her breast with a beautiful sunflower: A warrior blossoming after a battle.
