Our perspective is the way we see something, this could be an object, event or even a smile from a stranger. It’s how we interact with the world and often times it’s not what we’re observing that’s important but more where we’re observing it from.
If we take for example a lioness out on a hunt and watch her take down a Zebra there’s a 360 degree view we can have. For the Lion it was a good day, she get’s to feed her cubs and help ensure their survival, for the Zebra it’s not such a good day as the game of life is over. So the one thing that doesn’t change is the event and one thing that changes everything is perspective.
Below are a few pictures that I have taken after long sessions of pushing ink into skin where both the wearer and myself have achieved the goals we set out for that day. Tattooing is such a unique experience in overcoming one of our most basic instincts, wanting to react in the presence of (prolonged) pain. If you were to try and tattoo any other animal the results would be vastly different and it really shows what a human body can endure when the mind is focussed.
One of my favourite moments is after a tattoo session looking down on what has been achieved that day knowing and understanding the range of emotions the person lying there is going through, a mind and body finally at rest while the effects of adrenaline ware from their bloodstream. It’s in these hazy moments of post tattoo exhausted euphoria that it becomes more than just ink under the skin.
So what’s your perspective?
